This new app has been created to help patients who speak Innu-aimun communicate with their English-speaking health care providers.The Innu Medical Glossary, designed by Memorial University researchers and their partners, has already been distributed in parts of Labrador. This free app, downloadable at iTunes and Google Play, has over 1200 medical terms with translations into the Sheshatshiu and Mushuau dialects of Innu. It includes over 4000 audio files as well as two sets of 32 diagrams labelled in the two Labrador dialects of Innu-aimun. The more complex English terms have explanations and separate tabs give access to the full glossary, body parts, and affixes. The app can be downloaded onto any Apple or Android device, and includes English-to-Innu translations of more than 1,200 words. The app requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. For Android this app requires 2.3.3 and up.
