Welcome to the Colorado Chapter of the IMIA. The IMIA's goal is for all IMIA Chapters to flourish to meet all the needs of the members of each region. While the IMIA is international it believes in the 'Think Global, Act Local' motto. We will have periodic conference calls to allow members in this region to network and find ways to advance the profession together in the region. Please email your representative with ideas, issues, and topics that you think should be discussed. The IMIA believes that organizing an IMIA Symposium each year in each state should be a key goal of the Chapter. If you are willing to volunteer to assist, please let your representative know.

The IMIA is pleased to announce that Nelly Berg is the IMIA State Chapter Chair for Colorado. Please feel free to contact her at
IMIAColorado@imiaweb.org.

My name is Nelly Berg; I am from Monterrey, Mexico. I have been living in Denver, Colorado since 1994. Back in my hometown, I attended a bilingual vocational/technical School (I.T.E.S.M.) where I learned English. I worked as an executive assistant for a couple years and then decided to come to the United States to continue studying English. A short time after I arrived to this country I met Jeff and 5 months later we got married, he is now my husband of 17 years.
After working in the mortgage industry for 5 years I was introduced to the wonderful world of interpretation and translation by volunteering at a public school district. In 2007 I took Bridging the Gap and then decided to become an interpreter full time and focus on the medical aspect of it. In 2009 I completed an Interpreter and Translator Course and received a certificate from the Community College of Aurora.
My family is the most important thing to me, I still have most of my immediate family in Mexico and I visit them often. When I need medical terms advice I go to my sister who is a Psychiatrist. I enjoy traveling with my husband.
