Brief description:
The tone and expression of the speaker forms the meaning of the message as much as the words themselves. In this session participants identify the impact of tone on the interpreted message, develop strategies to replicate the speaker’s tone when interpreting, and assess when alternatives to tone-matching are most appropriate given the circumstances of the encounter. Session includes theory presentation and hands-on practice. Session is presented in English with monolingual exercises. Session is presented in a live, interactive, instructor-led online classroom.
