Brief description:
All professionals working in the healthcare field assume a certain degree of risk to their own safety. Interpreters are no exception. Many interpreters, however, have little training on how to identify and respond appropriately to environmental risks. Also, many interpreters live in the same community where they work, creating unique potential for risk to the interpreter’s safety outside the professional setting. This session equips healthcare interpreters with practical strategies to recognize and respond to risk factors that are inherent in the healthcare field. Strategies are applicable for all healthcare interpreters - freelance, agency, or staff interpreters. The session is presented in English in a live, interactive, instructor-led online classroom.
