Brief description:
This course, copyrighted and managed by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program of Seattle, is the premier interpreter training program for community interpreters in the country. Participants receive hands-on practice in interpreting in addition to a foundation in the Interpreter's Code of Ethics. An emphasis in made to train interpreters in cultural competency, the roles of an interpreter as well as medical terminology with a focus on the seven systems of the body. The course provides information on professional development as interpreters continue their learning throughout their career. An exam is given on the last day of class, and participants must earn 70% to receive a certificate of completion.
