Costa Rica Chapter

Evelyn was born in Costa Rica, January 15th, 1980. As per her professional life, she obtained her Bachelor’s in English with a minor in Translation at the University of Costa Rica in 2002. At present she is in her last year developing her thesis for the Master’s degree in Translation at Universidad Nacional. She joined Language Line Solutions in 2004 as an interpreter. In 2008, she worked with Language Line University as Project Tester for the integrated managed care consortium “Kaiser.” Responsibilities included assessing interpretation skills of prescreened Kaiser’s bilingual staff candidates aspiring to become on-site Kaiser Eng-Spa-Eng interpreters. One year later, in 2010, she became Operations Liaison SLS (Senior Language Specialist) responsible for Quality Assurance Supervision and Interpreting Skills Trainer Backup. Responsible for assuring quality of interpretation by monitoring and assessing consecutive interpretation skills of global workforce from Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Peru, Mexico, Puerto Rico and United States. Further responsibilities include training delivery of a variety of industry specific courses to develop interpretation skills. Among her certifications and participation in conferences she is Certified Medical Interpreter with International Registry of Certified Medical Interpreter # 10899 issued by Language Line University. Certified as a Professional Medical, Legal, Insurance and Finance Interpreter by Language Line University. SDL Trados Studio, 2009 (Translation Assisted by Computers) and the participation in the Webinar “Medical Translation: Greek and Latin in English and Spanish” from the IAPTI; 2nd North American Summit on Interpreting in Washington, DC; 3rd North American Summit on Interpreting in Monterey, CA and the IMIA Conference in Miami, FL last January 2013. Finally, just summarizing other professional skills she is a computer savvy, team player, multitasking, analytical thinker and problem solver. Contact: Costarica@imiaweb.org
